Meet your consultant

Dr. Kerr specialises in all aspects of dermatology with special interest and extensive training throughout the UK in diagnosis and management of skin cancers. She is one of only two Mohs trained surgeons in Northern Ireland.

She is also trained in all aspects of cosmetic dermatology (Botox and fillers) (Cosmetic Courses Dec 2006) and also holds a BTEC national qualification in lasers (Loughborough College Sept 2006). Her passion for training and education is reflected in her appointment as Training Programme Director for Dermatology in Northern Ireland.

Dr. Kerr has also had additional training in surgical management of skin cancer having been awarded a prestigious and competitive Post CCT Fellowship in Cutaneous Surgery in Cardiff (2006-2007) at the University Hospital of Wales specialising in the technique of Mohs surgery.

Dr Kerr is a very experienced general dermatologist with over 20 years’ experience in dermatology with special expertise and experience in the diagnosis and management of skin cancers. She has had experience of working throughout the UK and her extensive training ensures that patients can expect the highest quality of care. She oversees one of the only private mole scanning services in the UK where the patients moles are analysed by a trained professional and the patient is given an immediate diagnosis rather than other business models who use internet or remote access to analyse the moles.

Her business approach is unique and she is passionate that her team members share her vision for quality and excellence in skin cancer diagnosis and management. She attempts wherever possible to “see and treat” so that if you have a worrisome lesion it is often able to be removed on the day of the consultation.

She is originally from Northern Ireland and having worked throughout the UK is passionate that patients in Northern Ireland should have the best quality of dermatological care comparable with any region in the UK.

Dr Kerr studied medicine at Queens where she was awarded her degree with distinction in microbiology in 1996. She then pursued her general dermatology training in Edinburgh. During her time there she was awarded two postgraduate degrees a Masters in Medical Education (Queens University Belfast 2004) and an MD (Edinburgh University 2013) and is author of a number of peer reviewed articles.

She is one of only a few dermatologist trained in the technique of Mohs surgery. As a result of her surgical fellowship she is proficient at dealing with most skin cancers and at reconstructing defects with skin flaps and grafts.

What our patients say

There’s a reason why our Google Reviews gives us a 5-star rating.

Encountering a medical challenge can be a frightening and distressing experience. I took my mum to The Newry Clinic where all her worries (and mine) were dealt with professionally, calmly and sensitively. The appointment system was efficient and immediate, the welcome from all staff was reassuring and personalised, and the medical consultant had expertise and patient care in spades. Due to the current health care context in Ireland we found ourselves pursuing the private route for the first time, it was a pleasant and reassuring experience at The Newry Clinic.

Wendy McKeown, Newry

Had my dad at the clinic recently for Microsuction, fantastic service from Nurse McGarry and all the staff in the clinic. He felt so comfortable and enjoyed his experience, leaving the clinic with a smile on his face!

Martina McCartan, Newcastle

I attended an appointment with Dr. Glackin. my appointment was very professional and reassuring. The staff at the clinic were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend!!

Odhrann McAllister, Dublin

I went to the gynaecologist in this clinic after attending one locally with an ongoing problem for over 10 years. In one single visit I was told the problem and given a prescription there and then. I'm forever thankful to the doctor as I was being treated for the wrong thing for years.

Orla Callan, Belfast

I dont usually write reviews, but for Mr. David McCaul, I owe you one! I have had 2 encounters with Mr McCaul now, once last year to fix a perforated ear drum and a few weeks back to have a procedure on my throat. He has helped me in many ways, fixing my eardrum and giving me my hearing back to 100% volume. if anyone has ENT issues, and need a diagnosis or even just a bit of reassurance, This is one Gentleman that I would give the highest recommendation for. Thanks Again to Newry private Clinic and Mr McCaul.
